Here you'll find a list of commonly asked questions about insurance. If you have any doubts and would like us to check your insurance benefits on your behalf, please fill out the form below and we'll get back to you soon.

Do you take my insurance?

Please fill out our insurance form or give us a call at (503) 491-5555 and we will get back to you. Our receptionist can call on your behalf to make sure our providers participate in your network.

Can you bill my health insurance for my visit?

Yes, a visit to an Osteopath is covered by insurance like any other specialist. We are contracted with most private health insurance plans. We do not accept Medicaid or Medicare but do participate with most Med-Advantage plans. In most cases you do not need a referral.

What is a Med Advantage Plan?

Medicare Advantage Plans are offered by private health insurance companies and Medicare pays these companies to cover your Medicare benefits. These plans replace Medicare and usually require a copayment at time of service.

Do You accept Motor Vehicle Accident (PIP, Personal Injury Protection) patients?

Yes, we do accept these types of insurance. PIP is Oregon’s version of no-fault insurance. This allows you and your passengers, regardless of fault, to have associated medical care within one year of the date of accident and typical coverage is between $15,000-$100,000.

Do you accept Workers Compensation Insurance?

Workers compensation can be tricky. Some companies have Managed Care Organizations (MCO) which is Workers Comp’s version of a HMO. This means they coordinate your care for you so you must stay within their panel of doctors and other practitioners. We do participate with some of the major MCO’s here in Oregon. Others do not have MCO’s, if this is the case you can choose a doctor that is taking on Workers Comp patients.

All Workers Comp patients need to have an attending physician. Your attending physician is responsible for your treatment and care, directs and approves specialized care and authorizes time loss or work restrictions. You are only allowed to change your attending physician three times without prior approval. WCD providers (chiropractors, physician assistants & naturopaths) may treat an injured worker for up to 60 days after the injury or 18 visits, whichever comes first. After this limited time the worker must choose a DO or MD to manage their treatment plan.

We also take L & I Labor & Industries for our Washington State residents.

Can I pay out of pocket for IOM Services?

Of course! In some cases, uninsured or if the service is not covered by your health insurance, patients can pay at the time of their appointment. In this instance we offer a 20% time of service discount. If we need to bill you for any reason this discount does not apply.

Will my insurance cover my Osteopathic visit?

Your consultation and osteopathic manipulation with our osteopath will be covered by insurance most of the time. Your osteopathic consultation is usually considered a specialist doctors visit. Osteopathic Manipulation is a medical procedure. This procedure will usually process toward your major medical benefits. We recommend you contact our office prior to your appointment so we can contact your insurance company and provide you with detailed benefit information. You can also fill out our insurance form and we will get back to you.

Will my insurance cover Massage?

Massage is not always a covered benefit, it depends on your plan. It is usually categorized together under the umbrella “alternative benefits”. Your plan might exclude alternative benefits or have limitations and annual maximums. These benefit maximums may also be combined with different providers such as Chiropractic, Naturopathic, Acupuncture, OT, PT, Speech Therapy and Massage. We recommend you contact our office prior to your appointment so we can contact your insurance company and provide you with detailed benefit information. Please contact our office for Procedure codes to provide to your insurance company.
